It's difficult to interpret this lush and polyvalent work of photographic art, constructed from several source-images apparently. I take it to be born in a Japanese milieu, so the dominant line of text I understand to be Japanese rather than Chinese idiographs (but there is also a white English-alphabet text in the lower r+t-hand corner the letters of which fade in and out, thus not fully readable ... Sato Sh... Ohno.

Were I called upon to give a name or characterizing label to the mood of the work, I'd say simply "oriental feminine," but the h+ly productive Leann names the work "ohno-classic." Perhaps that's a definite traditional style brawt uptodate by the artist. Perhaps the white chalked-face is an outstanding semiote, signalling an inescapable meaning to those at home in the originating culture. Leann has a large gallery of her works shared with the public online at Flickr, her collection of the last few months being introduced by this piece. I found the beauty of this one stunning beyond words. - Anaximaxium
