This has got to be a record. It's only the second day of competition, and already two of the three black/half-black members of the U.S. swim team have reached the medal stand. Then there's the black Canadian woman (see post below) who got bronze in synchronized diving. Apparently, Team France got the drop on Team USA in the last leg of this race. Silver works though. Nice job, fellas! From the Charlotte Post: "Cullen Jones won a silver medal as the third leg of the men’s 4x100 free relay. Nick Thoman gave himself a chance to win a medal tomorrow night in the men’s 100 backstroke finals. 'In 2008 I wanted to be a major factor on the relay and I felt like this year I really stepped up and did that,' Jones said. 'I think we all swam amazing races. The only thing going through my mind was 'you're not catching me, you're not catching me.' I was really happy with my performance and it's really setting me up great for the 100.'"

More: "The USA held the lead through three legs and Ryan Lochte was on in the fourth and final, but France would not go quietly. The French upset the USA to win the gold and USA would take silver. USA swam the event in 3:10.38. France won with a time of 3:09.93."
