From bagnet to pinangat at ‘Eats more fun’ food fair | ABS-CBN News

MANILA, Philippines – 

Over 190 producers and manufacturers from all over the Philippines will converge in Mandaluyong City to offer a variety of fresh and processed food products.

The food trade fair, billed as “Eats more fun in the Philippines,” will be held at Megatrade Halls 2 and 3 at SM Megamall from July 12 to 15.

The event is in celebration of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development Week set every second week of July by Republic Act 9501, or the Magna Carta for MSMEs.

Among the items to be sold in the trade fair are vegetables and coffee from Kalinga, honey and vinegar from Benguet, bagnet (big slabs of deep-fried pork) and longanisa (Filipino sausage) from Ilocos, unpolished rice from Nueva Ecija, desserts from Pampanga and Laguna, and malunggay products from Batangas.

There will also be pinangat (a dish using taro leaves, chili, meat and coconut milk) and pili products from Bicol, as well as fruit-flavored wines from Agusan del Sur.

Organizers said there are plenty of opportunities in the food business especially with the growing popularity of weekend markets in Metro Manila such as Mercato Centrale.

They added that more Filipinos and foreigners are interested to learn more about cuisines from the Philippines’ many regions.

Technics: Apple: A press release from Apple's WWDC event

Today at the WWDC event Apple released a slew of announcements, covering a wide range of products. This post is a compendium of what they released, and promised to release today. For convenience, the order of this post mirrors the order of Apple’s event.

The event was packed, as always, filling the 6,230-person capacity room. Media was mixed with a strong developer contingent. It was a classic Apple event. Now, to the news:

WWDC

Apple reported that over 1,000 of its engineers are at the event. This was the 23rd WWDC, selling out in 1 hour and 43 minutes. People from 60 countries made the trek to the venue. Apple stated that it shut down in anticipation of the conference.

App Store

There are now 400 million user accounts, each with a credit card attached. In the store there are more than 650,000 apps, of which 225,000 are designed for the iPad. Customers have downloaded some 30,000,000,000 apps in total, a staggering figure.
